The City of Coburg participates in the State of Oregon ePermitting System!  The program lets contractors use a variety of online services, including purchasing permits, submitting electronic plans for review, receiving correction notes, printing permits, tracking permit progress and getting a Certificate of Occupancy online. Architects and engineers can also submit documents through the system.

Oregon State Construction Code regulations affect all commercial, residential construction and some site development. This page describes common permit types that require a Building, Electrical, or Mechanical permit.

Permit Status:  541-682-7862

Many Building Permits require a land use approval first. See Community Development for land use application types and procedures.  Examples of land use applications include lot line adjustments, partitions, subdivisions, a significant change in use to a building, and some signs. Be prepared to pay Building Permit fees and associated systems development charges prior to permit issuance.

Septic Systems
The Coburg Wastewater Project is complete.  Septic tanks are no longer under Lane County jurisdiction.  Contact the City of Coburg for wastewater development and maintenance issues.

Process for Building Permit
  • Know if your project requires a land use permit. See table.
  • Submit the complete application to Coburg City Hall.  Two sets of plans are required for residential; three complete sets are required for commercial.
  • Proposal review: The City will route the application to all applicable reviewers. Review of basic applications takes approximately five business days to process.
  • Corrections:  If a reviewer needs more information or a correction to be made, you will be contacted. Submit revised plans to City Hall if applicable.
  • Plans approved: You will be notified when your permit is ready to be picked up and of the final fee. Pick-up is available during regular business hours.
  • Inspections: When you receive your permit, there is information listed on how to schedule inspections. When all of your inspections are approved, you will receive a final inspection and your project is complete.

See Coburg Planning Department page for non-building/plumbing/mechanical or land use permit types and procedures.

A 3% technology fee applies to all permits issued by the City of Coburg.
