About Suspensions

The Court will request that the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) suspend your driving privileges for these reasons:

  • Failure to appear for arraignment. The Court allows a fourteen day grace period to take action on a citation. You may be suspended on the fourteenth day.
  • Failure to appear for a court trial or other hearing date. There is no grace period for court trials. You can be suspended the same day.
  • Failure to pay fines and fees the day adjudicated or failing to adhere to the installment payment plan.

Once the court has requested that DMV suspend your driving privileges, the citation must be paid in full and there is an additional $15 suspension fee per citation. When the matter is cleared with the court, the court will send notification to DMV to remove the hold on your license.
