About a Business License
The City of Coburg recently adopted business license Ordinance 209-A to establish a procedure whereby businesses doing or transacting business in Coburg shall register with the City and pay a yearly $50.00 license fee. This license procedure will enable the City to accurately record businesses in Coburg. The license fee will allow the City to pay for administrative tracking and business license software.
Licenses are valid from January 1 to December 31 of the next calendar year. License renewal submission is required yearly, at least 30 days in advance of expiration. Any business in the City of Coburg shall register using the business license application.
Businesses are defined as any activity carried on with the intent that a profit be realized therefrom and that the profit, if any, inure to the benefit of the owner or owners of the activity. Conducting a business at two or more locations within the City shall not require separate licenses provided that the businesses provide the same type of business activities and the same ownership. If your business is the main proprietor and there are other businesses (under separate ownership) operating at this location which have not applied for a business license application please recommend they contact the City of Coburg at 541-682-7852.
Except when doing business temporarily (less than four days) or otherwise as a transient merchant pursuant to Ordinance A-198, no person shall do business without obtaining a valid business license.
Note: Non-profit organizations within the City are required to submit a business license, but are exempt from the $50.00 license fee.
