City Hall Building Opportunity

After a year and a half of consideration, City Council decided to move forward to both exchange and purchase the current City Hall building (at the corner of Willamette and Pearl Sts.) with 91136 N Willamette St. The owner of 91136 N Willamette St. has purchased the current City Hall building. When all phases are complete, the new location will become a community center with heritage component, Municipal Court chambers, City Council chambers, and staff office space including the Police Department and Public Works (a consolidation). City Council made final purchase decisions at September-November 2013 City Council meetings. On November 12, 2013 there was a well-attended Open House at 91136 N Willamette St. followed by City Council Public Hearing.  City Council approved (5-1) a Supplemental Budget which directed staff to pursue financing options.

Financing was secured mid-January 2014.  Some remodeling is required to meet minimum ADA and security design standards prior to the building becoming eligible for public use.  The earliest a transition would take place is April 2014.

See Frequently Asked Questions (below) for more information about when, why, and how decisions have been made about this project. This infomation is also available at City Hall.
